About the Project

Gasvla is a venue discovery and loyalty platform built for Georgia's rapidly growing tourism market. The app connects tourists with local restaurants, cafes, bars, and cultural venues - offering exclusive discounts and tips that make exploring the country easier and more affordable. The platform serves two audiences: tourists looking for curated, budget-friendly venue recommendations, and venue owners looking to attract international visitors with targeted promotions. Unlike generic review platforms, Gasvla focuses specifically on the Georgian hospitality market where digital discovery was severely underdeveloped despite the country's tourist influx.

The Challenge

Product & UX challenges

Taking over an existing codebase that lacked any design screens and building a polished, user-friendly interface on top of it. The app needed to serve both tourists (discovery and booking) and venue managers (offer management and analytics) through intuitive role-based experiences.

Business challenges

Georgia's hospitality sector was largely undigitized despite booming tourism. Tourists had difficulty discovering quality local venues beyond the most obvious tourist traps, and venue owners had no digital channel to reach international visitors with promotions or loyalty offers.

Technical challenges

Inheriting and stabilizing a partially built codebase while adding payment processing, venue management panels, and authentication. Building the admin and venue manager dashboards from scratch while ensuring the app performed reliably for tourists exploring on mobile data in various locations.

Work Process

Codebase audit & handover

Reviewed the existing partially built app, identified gaps in functionality and code quality, and planned the completion roadmap. Assessed payment integration requirements and designed the venue management architecture.

UI design & development

Created the complete visual design layer that was missing from the inherited codebase. Built all user-facing screens following a design-eye approach that prioritized venue discovery and easy navigation for tourists.

Feature development & integration

Built the Stripe payment system, venue manager panel, admin dashboard, and authentication flows. Integrated all components with the existing codebase while improving code quality and performance.

Testing & store submission

Tested across devices and network conditions typical for tourists (varying mobile data quality), validated payment flows end-to-end, and submitted to both app stores.
